Ford is planning the next generation F-150 pickup truck, and
leans against the use of aluminum for the most part of the body. This movement,
according to Edmunds.com, would "petrify" competition, because it
would relieve the empty weight and improve fuel economy.
"The competition from the breakthroughs that Ford could
do for weight reduction and fuel savings are petrified," said Edmunds.com
senior analyst Michelle Krebs. "The F-150 is already the dominant truck in
the market, and if Ford can his customers to convince that shake an aluminum
truck, the same pace that their current truck to resist contracts, then the
segment is still stronger than in Ford EcoBoost introduced in 2011.”
Prices and EPA ratings are not yet available, but we do need
to improve mpg in the 16/22 city / highway, the current model, the 3.50-liter
V6 engine average. With regard to prices, they can get out of the 2012 starting
price of $ 24,495, as analysts predict an estimated construction cost of $
1,500 increase for trucks with aluminum material.
Another incentive to get the material for the next Ford
F-150 is the consumer response to higher fuel efficiency in large vehicles. For
example, the 2011 F-150 EcoBoost was with considerations for the model, an
increase of 10 percent in the few months preceding the date of sale. In
addition, improving the fuel is to help the new 35.5 mpg fleet average now
required for CAFE 2016.
