Acura NSX Concept

Acura NSX fans will never forget the month of December 2005. The last NSX on the way to the North American market was then built and fans mourn for the loss of the first super sports car from Honda. Now they can stop mourning because a new generation NSX invited with a strong hybrid in the U.S. Acura recently a select group of journalists, its dealer meeting in Las Vegas for a taste of things to come that will come. Together with the new sedan and ILX RDX crossover, we laid eyes on the shapely NSX concept at the Detroit Show 2012 shown - and, better still heard, previews, that a real production car, which is expected in to be built here United States, and should be here in time for three years.

This immense silence between the NSX models was not really the intent. Honda had been working on editing a flagship sports car for a while, but what once looked like a clear plan has been moving quickly. Let's recap: Although the first generation Acura NSX running in 2005, Honda began hinting at a sequel in 2003, when it began with the HSC in the global auto show circuit. Two years later, and confirmed the end of the original car, the company's efforts to develop a successor ", has been intensified."

True to her word, was a concept created anticipation of such a vehicle in the spring of 2007. The Advanced Sports Car Concept that debuted at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, was said to show a new premium sports car, but many fans had difficulty calling it the NSX. The caution was understandable, since the formula Honda is pursuing a far cry from what we had seen. The ASCC avoided a V-6 for a ten-cylinder engine, and also approved a front-engine and four-wheel-drive system.

Spy photographers caught it testing the prototypes on public roads, but the project would not last long. In 2008, a volatile automotive market and the demand for global economic stability Honda to rethink his priorities - not surprisingly, was an expensive top-tier sports car is not just one of them. Although the development was canceled by a road vehicle, the front-engine NSX project served as a base for Honda HSV-010 GT race cars for the Japanese Super GT project.

I hope again blossomed in the spring of 2011, as Takanobu Ito, CEO of Honda Motor Company and a former engineer on the original NSX project, confirmed his company back on a new NSX. This latter approach shares virtually nothing with the last of the company on a stabbing NSX successor. Previous ideas, especially those calling for a ten-cylinder engine to be placed on the interior of an approach officials to believe, is more in line with the Acura brand identity has been removed.

As in the case with the original, is in the new NSX the engine exactly in the middle of the housing. This engine will probably be a V-6, but that's where the similarities with the original car. As in almost two decades ago, Honda's engineers see the car as a halo car, ideal for the presentation of its technical capabilities and the latest and best technologies.

Then, the NSX with a new hybrid form of the Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD) system. The V-6, are 3.5-or 3.7-liter, driving the rear wheels via a seven-speed dual clutch transmission. In contrast to the present AWD-SH, which would flow to the front wheels by a drive shaft and a mechanical differential of the front wheels NSX by a pair is driven by electric motors. Since each is assigned to a wheel of the engine, the system is the ability to accelerate the outer wheel at an angle so that a pivoting to run ahead of the car and in turn improves. Overall, the system could propose a power of 400 hp.

Of course, this type of packaging technology in a simple wrapper not enough for a halo car. Love it or hate it, the new NSX, the board certainly a looker. Despite the inclusion of general proportions of the Audi R8 and the attitude - that is, wide track, pushed into the cabin near the front, etc. - the car has a visual identity for themselves.

Angular Acura design language is of central importance, but the besieged "beak" Grille - long a complaint from the previous Acura Design - is happy to find it anywhere. Thin LED headlamps make room for a panel that characterizes the upper half of the grill. The car side panels are relatively clean and untouched, only interrupted by a rather dramatic light kicker above the side sills and a blade that folds neatly into a pair of buttresses, that the streak from the roof itself. A thin line of LEDs wound in the rear fender, runs over the entire width of the rear fascia and effectively serves as both the brake lights and a center-mounted stop lamp. The display model was missing a window on a complete interior, but showed a waterfall dashboard that twin cockpit theme that developed in the original NSX arches.

Although the Acura's only seen the car in coupe form at this time there are early signs of a convertible variant, fueled in part by the appearance of a similar-looking roadsters on the set of the upcoming superhero film Avengers. When released for production, the car calculated only with respect to the tailgate, differ rear fenders, and side character line. It is still unclear whether to use the NSX has its own architecture, or perhaps share its platform with another vehicle. However, there is almost certainly the production. Officials tell us the program for the development is still in its infancy, but the car could go all the serial production in 2015.

If a hybrid sports car to scare off some purists? Maybe so. But to equate it does not necessarily have to drive a vehicle, not the fun. As was the case with the first NSX, as engineers for the Nirvana balance between driving and traceability daily quest - except that this time thrown in for good measure an ecological conscience. "The NSX will pay the driver a car driving dynamic capabilities, without the road," said Honda CEO Ito. "As in the first NSX, we are once again to express high performance bring technical efficiency - but even if we focus on the joy of the spirit of the NSX to drive, I think, to react a supercar positively to the responsibility for the environment.
